Working at ITEC
I have been a technical staff member at ITEC (Department of Information Technology at AAU) since 2003. My responsibilities primarily include system administration, but I am also engaged in teaching and research.
IT System Administration
I am responsible for managing about 20 Linux-based server systems and for maintaining the basic networking infrastructure at ITEC (in cooperation with our University Computer Center (ZID)).
Teaching
I have been giving various lab courses in computer science, including:
- introduction to computer science
- computer organization
- compiler construction
- distributed systems
- object-oriented design and programming
- software engineering
Research
I have been contributing to scientific work at ITEC since 2009 (see my publication record). In 2017, I received a PhD degree in computer science from AAU. My current research interests include:
- Medical case retrieval (PhD topic)
- Multimedia information systems
- Computer vision
- Machine learning
Curriculum Vitae
I was born in Klagenfurt in 1971, attended school here, and went to Vienna University in 1990, where I received my master´s degree in mathematics and physics in 1996. Back in Klagenfurt, I got a university assistant position at the System Security research group at AAU during the years 1998-2001. After a year of working as a free RTLinux consultant and developer for FSMLabs Inc. in Austria, I was employed by Quant-X GmbH, St. Veit/Glan, as an HPC (High Performance Computing) consultant in 2002. Since 2003 I have been responsible for managing the server systems and networking infrastructure at ITEC, where I am also contributing to research and education. I received a PhD degree in computer science from AAU in 2017, allowing me to engage more intensively in scientific work at ITEC. Born in a male body, I live as a woman since 2024.
